Quartz or Quartzite?

Quartzite, in general, is a rock with a high resistance formed. By the fact that quartz sand grains are very firmly connected to each other with a cement made of silica. Various amounts of feldspar, mica, clay, magnetite, hematite, garnet, rutile, limestone can be found in quartzite.

Quartz is the name given to fairly pure silicon dioxide crystals. It is a hard, crystalline mineral consisting of silicon and oxygen atoms. There are many different varieties of quartz, many of which are semi-precious stones. Since ancient times, quartz varieties have been the most widely used minerals for making jewelry and hard stone carvings, especially in Eurasia.

Quartz and quartzite are minerals with many useful purposes. These two minerals are abundant on earth. However, there are a lot of differences between these two minerals. The main component of quartz is silica or silicon dioxide. It consists of oxygen and silica. Quartzites are formed due to the metamorphism of quartz sandstones. In terms of color, they both have different colors. Quartz comes in different colors such as white, smoky yellow, rose, violet, yellow, opaque and brown. On the contrary, quartzite has a snowy white or gray color. It is also found in light colors, depending on the compounds present in the main sandstone. When talking about availability, quartz is more common, as it is found in more areas than quartzite. Quartz is found in large quantities in the Alps, Madagascar, Brazil, Japan, New York and Arkansas. Quartzite, by contrast, is found largely in the Appalachian Mountains, Texas, Utah, and Minnesota. Although quartz and quartzite are both hard, it is easier to work with quartz and that is why it is widely used in the jewelry industry. Quartz is a crystalline rock, while quartzite can be classified as metamorphic. Quartzite is widely used in the construction industry as flooring, roofing and floor tiles, as well as crushed stones. Quartz has its application as a gemstone and is also used in electronics. It is known that quartz is resistant to all chemicals except alkalis. Quartz can be broken down by the action of water containing salt minerals. Quartzite, on the other hand, is stronger. Quartzite is stronger and harder than sandstone, which is formed by pressure. Quartz consists of oxygen and silica. The main component of quartz is silica or silicon dioxide Quartzite is formed due to the metamorphism of quartz sandstones.
